The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix in partnership with the Police Community Relation Committee have flag off the renovation of a section of the Amadi Police Division in line with the Rotary international area of focus.
The occupants of the section of the Police Division under renovation which includes the offices of the DPO, IPOs and administration block have suffered flooding as a result of leaking roof of the dilapidated old roof.
President of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix Tobi Odeyemi who led members of her club and the PCRC team to flag off the renovation project said running to the Police Station to take shelter from the rain and met a flooded office spured her club and partner to extend Rotary hand of fellowship to give a face lift to the Police building.
The Rotarian President said the project when completed in a week’s time will empower the Police to put in their best in sustaining peace in the host Amadi community.
She said the project when completed will fulfill the Rotary International area of focus of Community Development and Economic Empowerment, and Peace Resolution and Conflict Prevention.
On his part, Rotary International, District 9141 Governor Nominee Tony Woreghen said the project is a major mile stone that will foster the already existing relationship with Rotary International and the Nigeria Police Force.
He urged the Police to maintain the facility so as to attract more projects from the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix.
Speaking also at the flag off even, Deputy Chairman state PCRC, Sir, Chief, Dr Ebenezer Ogan said the committee is excited to partner with Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Phoenix to impact the lives of the Police officers through the project.
“You see the police are here for us and we have to make them comfortable. That’s why we don’t want them to work under a leaking roof and that’s the good thing we have come to do for them”, he said.
