Led by the club President, Rotarian Victor Wariso, the club distributed 100 school bags, mathematics sets, Rotary-branded notebooks, and writing pens to students in need.

The initiative took place at Community Secondary School, Rumuekini, and Community Secondary School, Okuru Ama, both of which families facing significant financial challenges. For many students, the supplies provided were more than just items—they symbolized hope, opportunity, and the belief that they can achieve their dreams.

As Rotary members arrived at the schools, excitement buzzed in the air. Students eagerly awaited the moment they would receive their new school bags, filled with essential supplies. The smiles that spread across their faces told a powerful story of gratitude and newfound motivation.

President Victor Wariso spoke passionately about the club’s commitment to supporting education in the community. “Every child deserves the opportunity to learn and grow,” he stated. “With these supplies, we aim to empower our youth and inspire them to reach their full potential.”

Chika Ohagba, the immediate past president, echoed these sentiments. “This project reflects the heart of Rotary—service above self,” he said. “We are proud to continue making a difference in the lives of these children, ensuring they have the tools they need for success.”

Dr. and Mrs. Igo Weli added a special touch to the event by emphasizing the importance of community support in education, stating, “We believe in investing in our children’s futures. It is our hope that these supplies will encourage them to pursue their studies with determination.”

Teachers from both schools expressed their heartfelt appreciation. “This initiative means so much to our students,” said Mrs. Nwosu from Community Secondary School, Rumuekini. “It helps them focus on their education and shows them that their community believes in their potential.”

As the day unfolded, the distribution became a celebration of hope and possibility. Students not only received school supplies but also felt the warmth of community support, knowing they are not alone in their educational journeys.

The Club’s Project Director reiterated that “The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt’s “Back to School” project is a powerful reminder of the impact that collective kindness can have on the lives of young learners.
