Speaking at the event, Ayantayo emphasised that the retreat was part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen labour relations and equip the public sector for the future of work. He reaffirmed the state’s commitment to initiating programmes that would enhance workforce preparedness, including capacity-building workshops, investments in digital infrastructure, and strategic partnerships to promote upskilling and lifelong learning.

According to him, the retreat not only aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and agile work practices but also sought to inspire innovative ideas that would drive better outcomes for all stakeholders.

He commended the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his unwavering support in fostering a progressive labour environment. He further highlighted that AI and agile practices have become a model for promoting adaptability and innovation in workplace relations.

Ayantayo also expressed appreciation to the union leaders for their continuous cooperation and partnership, which he credited for the industrial peace currently being experienced in the state.

In her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Olubusola Abidakun, noted that the retreat was designed to provide meaningful learning experiences while also creating opportunities for relaxation, networking, and enjoyment. She added that beyond addressing the challenges faced by unions, the gathering served as a well-deserved reward for their dedication and hard work.

She further emphasised that the theme of the retreat challenged union leaders to identify strategies for fostering collaboration and maintaining industrial harmony in the face of emerging workplace disruptions brought about by AI and agile methodologies.

The retreat brought together key stakeholders from the public sector and labour unions to engage in discussions on the evolving dynamics of employer-employee relations and the future of work.
