Nigeria is on track to inaugurate a new administration on May 29, 2023.  A list of probable members of the Tinubu administration was circulated in the Nigeria media recently.  The list of probable members of the new administration included some old hands from Tinubu’s former days in government, such as Babatunde Fashola, current Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, James Faleke, other recent APC heavy-weights David Umahi, as well as Felix Nicolas, and others.

However, the focus of this statement is on the new-breed politician, Dr. Felix Nicolas, the APC’s youngest presidential Aspirant in 2023, and also the Deputy Youth Leader of the APC Presidential Campaign Council in 2023, and a former PCP presidential candidate in 2019.

The inclusion of Dr. Felix Nicolas in the probable nominees list, which has not been debunked by Tinubu Transition Committee Officials, indicates that the incoming administration may be mindful of the value that the administration will gain, by tapping new talent, in this case, a talent grounded in both Nigeria and the Diaspora, and a talent that has been tested by capacity, trust, competence, and integrity.

But who is Dr. Felix Nicolas?  Born on June 24th 1981 in Auchi, Edo State; Dr. Nicolas is a man of many parts.  He was educated variously at Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State, where he studied Electrical/Electronic Engineering; before proceeding to the United States on a Visa Lottery.  In the US, Dr. Nicolas earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies, from Ames Christian University, Florida, US; and eventually his Doctorate in Divinity, from CICA International University & Seminary in New York, US.

Dr. Nicolas was ultimately ordained a Minister of the Gospel, in New York City; and eventually founded “Miracle Center International” a Ministry, in New York city, with branches in New Jersey, Texas, and Georgia; and also in Abuja Nigeria; with an active growing international following.

Dr. Nicolas has also utilized his entrepreneurial talents to found and preside over various businesses in the United States and Nigeria, with interests in Security, Healthcare, and Real Estate Development; he was actively involved in Humanitarian programs, including financially empowering widows in Edo State; before transiting into the Nigerian political scene in 2019.

In 2019, Dr. Nicolas entered the Nigerian political space with a bang.  He joined the Peoples Coalition Party (PCP) and ran as a presidential aspirant, eventually emerging as the Party’s presidential candidate, in a keenly contested election at the age of 38!  While the 2019 elections included many new and or new-generation candidates, and the election itself was a fierce contest of political heavy-weights in Nigeria, Dr. Nicolas performed phenomenally, and beyond expectations, as a first-time candidate; by wining third place in the national contest, which included 73 presidential candidates!  This phenomenal performance by a first-time candidate, has now established Dr. Nicolas, as a formidable political leader in a future Nigeria.

Thus, as the new Tinubu administration begins to take shape, the choice of Dr. Nicolas as a member of this Cabinet, signals that the Tinubu administration is ready to build a new Nigeria, founded on a clear recognition, that it will take competence, diligence, international exposure, and a strong leadership acumen, to move the country forward, at this critical time; given the huge challenges that Nigeria faces today.  Dr. Nicolas’s youthful energy will also add a much needed zest, and access to the youthful generation that is shaping Nigeria’s current and future trajectory as a nation.

For a man who has accomplished so much at such a young age, and for a man who has passionately aspired to serve Nigeria at such an ambitious level, Dr. Nicolas will be a great gift and enduring talent for the Tinubu administration; Dr. Nicolas has demonstrated that he is an asset to any new government in Nigeria that desires to move Nigeria forward.
