President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of four new members of the National Council on Privatization, NCP, representing the private sector in the Council. Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, made this known recently
According to him, The President charged the new members of the Council to bring the best of their private sector experience to bear in ensuring that Nigerians receive the greatest value and impact from investments that were made on their behalf.
The appointed members are:
Oluwole Osin — South-West
Mohammed Mustapha Bintube — North-East
Olayiwola Yahaya — North-Central
Akwa Effion Okon — South-South
NCP is a think tank sponsored by the Nigerian government to determine the political, economic and social objectives of the privatization and commercialization of Nigeria’s public enterprises.
Functions of the NCP include: Approve policies on privatization and commercialization, approve guidelines and criteria for valuation of public enterprises for privatization and choice of strategic investors, approve public enterprises to privatized or commercialized.
Other are; Approve the prices of shares or assets of the public enterprises to be offered for sale, approve the appointment of privatization advisors and consultants, and also approve the budget of the Council.
