Presdent Buhari Returns To Abuja From Dubai Expo

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Sunday has returned to Abuja from the EXPO 2020 Dubai.

Buhari arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja after a four-day official trip to Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

He was received by some top government officials, including security chiefs.

The President jetted out of the country on Wednesday, a few hours after playing host to the South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa.

On Friday, he spoke at Nigeria Day during EXPO DUBAI 2020 where he met with prospective investors calling on all participating countries, organisations and other private sector operators to take full advantage of opportunities and collaborate with Nigeria in diverse areas for mutual benefits.

He also stressed the need for world leaders to work together and reinforce partnerships to limit the catastrophic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.

While in Dubai, the President also received in the audience the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of the Emirate of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The EXPO also provided the President and his delegation a chance to highlight significant success in the Nigerian economy in the last six years; a way of portraying the country as an important destination for foreign direct investment.

On Saturday, Buhari was the special guest of honour at the special trade and investment forum.

His entourage includes the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Industry, Trade and Investment, Adeniyi Adebayo; Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed; Defence, Maj.-Gen. Bashir Magashi (retd.); Aviation, Hadi Sirika; and Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Mohammad Abubakar.

Others are Ministers of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire; Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Pantami; Mines and Steel Development, Olamilekan Adegbite; Minister of State, Industry, Trade and Investment, Amb. Maryam Katagum, the National Security Adviser, Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno (retd.), Director-General of National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Abubakar and the Chairman/CEO Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
