Today, history has it recorded as Most Rev. Fr. Anthony Ewherido becomes ordained as the 5th Bishop of the Catholic church of Warri Diocese of Delta state, an occasion which attracted men of timber and calibre from different spheres of life especially as it concerns church, politics and people of Delta state in general.
Most Rev. Ewherido at 62 was ordained and installed as Bishop at episcopal ordination and installation ceremony today to succeed the Most Rev. John Okeoghene Afareha, who retired last year at the age of 75.
The occasion was another meeting point for all political juggernauts in the state and the participation very high which signifies that one cannot actually separate church from politics which entails that politics and religion are interwoven and for any man to emerge as a true leader in Delta state, he/she must have had some correlation between the church, people and state as Delta state is one state with many Christians and churches as well.
This Episcopal Ordination and Installation Ceremony took place today been Thursday 9th February, 2023 at the Holy Martyr of Uganda Minor Seminary, Effurun, Delta State.
Present in the occasion were top notch politicians and elder statesmen, traditional men and women, top men of God, members of different political parties and government official to mention but few are; The leading governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP), then His Excellency in making, Olorogun Barr. Kenneth Gbagi OON in company of his campaign train graced the occasion in grand style and other dignitaries like the incumbent Governor of Delta state, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa who is represented by his Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Ovie Agas, the former Delta state Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and others.
Also present were revered traditional rulers including the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Emmanuel Sideso, Abe I; Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse 111; Ovie of Ughelli, Oharisi 111; the Ovie of Agbon kingdom, HRM Michael Omeru, Ogurime-rime Ukori I; Okobaro of Ughievwen, HRM Matthew Egbi, Owahwa II and Pere of Seimbiri Kingdom, HRM Charles Ayemi Botu.
Others are the Ovie of Ozoro, HRM Anthony Ogbogbo, Ibuka I; Odio-Ologbo of Oleh, HRM Anthony Ovrawah, Omogha I and the immediate past President-General of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Olorogun Moses Taiga.
At the end, the occasion was described as colourful and heavily represented with men that matters both in politics, church, and Delta state in general.
