People Are becoming Aware Of Hepatitis, Embraces Testing And Vaccination—Viral Hepatitis Association Of Nigeria

The Viral Hepatitis Association of Nigeria says the prevalence rate of Hepatitis in Port Harcourt is low, following the result of the sensitization and screening exercise carried out by the Association as part of activities to commemorate the World Hepatitis Day.

The Zonal Coordinator of the Viral Hepatitis Association of Nigeria, Sampson Emerole said no cases of the Viral Hepatitis were detected out of the about one hundred persons who came out to be tested during the free awareness campaign and screening sponsored by the Association and the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Rebisi Kingdom in D/line axis in Port Harcourt.

Sampson Emerole while commending the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Rebisi Kingdom for funding the vaccines which were given free to the public, called on other corporate organizations to take the Hepatitis awareness, testing and vaccination to their organizations and groups to raise the awareness of the silent killer.

On his part, President of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Rebisi Kingdom, Chris Ugochukwu-Oguzie said the gesture is part of the Club corporate social responsibility under the Rotary International area of focus, Disease prevention and treatment to care for our host communities.

Speaking also, the Rotary International Assistant District Governor zone thirty, Preba Babalola said Rotary will continue to carry out sustainable projects that will impact on the lives of the people.

 

Our correspondent reports more persons were still asking for more free vaccines after the free ones paid by the Rotary club were exhausted. They also commended the Rotary club for giving the reason to come and enroll to be tested and vaccinated for free.

It will interest you to know that each vaccine cost about five thousand for a shot.
