Oyo Govt Cracks Down on Illegal Schools and Study Centers

The Oyo State Government has issued a stern warning to owners of private schools, study centers, and continuing education centers that are operating without proper approval. In a statement released by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof Salihu Adelabu, the government emphasized that these establishments must seek formal approval or face severe sanctions.

 

The Commissioner expressed his disappointment at the rampant proliferation of illegal schools, study centers, and continuing education centers across the state. He made it clear that the Ministry will no longer tolerate such illegal operations.

To rectify this issue, the Ministry has instructed all school owners to visit the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for information on the approval process. They have been given a deadline of Wednesday, 18th October 2023 to comply. Failure to do so will result in immediate closure of the illegal establishments.

 

The statement reads: “The Ministry has noted with dismay the unbridled proliferation of Private Schools, Study Centers and Continuing Education Centers that are operating illegally without formal approval across the State”

 

“Consequently, all school owners (Proprietors) are enjoined to visit the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Rooms 31, 33, 16A am 25 for enquiries on the approval process between now and Wednesday 18th October, 2023.

 

Kindly be informed that operating a school, Study Centers and Continuing Education Centers without approval is an illegal act. The Ministry will no longer tolerate any illegal schools, Study Centers or Continuing Education Centers in Oyo State.

 

“Failure to respond to this notice will lead to immediate closure of Schools, Study Centers and Continuing Education Centers operating illegally across the State.“
