“Our Work is Evident Across ONELGA: Prince Isaac Umejuru Declares as He Hands Over Power to Head of Local Government Dr. Comfort Oghu”

In a historic transition following the Supreme Court’s judgment on Friday, 28th February 2025, which overturned the Rivers State Local Government elections held on 5th October 2024, Hon. Prince Isaac Umejuru, the former Chairman of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA), officially handed over power to the Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA), Dr. Comfort Oghu.

The handover, conducted in compliance with the directives of Rivers State Governor, His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS, was marked by a reflective speech from Prince Umejuru, who emphasized the tangible impact of his administration’s work across the LGA.
*”The activities of the council since October are evident in the entire LGA,”* declared Prince Umejuru during the handover ceremony. He further revealed that he had held extensive discussions with the HLGA and other top functionaries of the Local Government Civil Service, ensuring a comprehensive documentation of projects and activities carried out by the Divine Mandate Team ’24 under his leadership.
Dr. Comfort Oghu, who now takes the helm of ONELGA’s administration, commended Prince Umejuru for his peaceful and transparent approach to the transition. She expressed her commitment to building on the foundation laid by the former chairman, promising to work closely with the Head of Personnel Management (HPM) and other officials to ensure efficient governance and continued development in the area.

The ceremony was attended by key figures, including the former Deputy Chairman, Lady Hon. Heoma Sarah Izidor-Nwokocha, the Secretary, Comr. Ambrose Sopuruchukwu Okpor, and the Chief of Staff, Dr. Maduabuchukwu Orie. Dr. Oghu was supported by the Head of Personnel Management, Gladson Ogwe, and the Director of Procurement, signaling a collaborative effort to steer ONELGA toward progress.
