The debate featured Adegboyega Oyetola, the All Progressives Congress candidate and the state governor; Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi of Accord Party, Mr. Goke Omigbodun of Social Democratic Party; Mr. Lasun Yusuf of the Labour Party and Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party.

On vote-buying, Yusuf said, “I pray Nigeria will not go into extinction with what happened during the presidential primary in Abuja and Ekiti poll. Nigeria faces a serious threat with that trend.”

Also, Ogunbiyi said, “Those selling their votes are selling their future. I don’t have money to buy votes. Security should deal with anyone involved,” while Adeleke, in his response said, “Don’t sell your vote. Electoral Act prohibits that. Police should arrest and prosecute anyone caught engaging in vote buying.”

Unfolding their plans, LP and AP candidates, Yusuf and Ogunbiyi, said agriculture would be relied on to reflate the economy, noting that youth engagement and education would also be given attention.

The SDP candidate, Omigbodun, said he would use technology to tackle insecurity.

In response to questions about security, Governor Oyetola said Amotekun corps was already assisting police in maintaining law and order, and that the state surveillance helicopter was being repaired.
