OPEN LETTER TO DELTA STATE GOVERNOR ON THE MISCONDUCT OF THE SSG.
To: The Executive Governor of Delta State.
Asaba, Delta State.
Through:
Chief of Staff,
Office of the Executive Governor,
Delta State Government House,
Asaba, Delta State.
Dear His Excellency,
Subject: Petition Regarding Misconduct and Transparency of SSG’s Actions towards the 2 committee’s setup for Flood and Palliatives.
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing on behalf of concerned citizens of Delta State to bring to your attention a matter of utmost importance regarding the recent conduct of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Emu, and the transparency of actions taken by the Delta State Government.
It has come to our attention that the SSG, Dr. Kingsley Emu, made public statements in a press release on Sunday 3rd September 2023, regarding various palliatives and initiatives implemented by the government. While we appreciate the efforts made by the government to ameliorate the suffering of its citizens, we have serious concerns about the legitimacy and transparency of certain claims made in the press release.
Specifically, we are troubled by the assertion that the State Government has enlisted the support of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to aid in these initiatives. It is imperative that the names of these NGOs be published, and their footprints in the state be disclosed to the public. Without this information, there is a risk that these NGOs may be perceived as politically motivated and affiliated with the political class, which raises questions about the impartiality and fairness of their involvement.
We respectfully request that the following actions be taken:
1. Dr. Kingsley Emu, as the SSG, should publicly disclose the names of the NGOs that have been engaged by the Delta State Government for these initiatives. Because none of these have been communicated on various platforms of active NGO’S and CSO’s or CBO’s platforms of Delta State.
2. The Delta State Government should provide information about the activities and impact of these NGOs in the state to ensure their legitimacy and to address any concerns of political bias.
3. A press conference should be organized by the government to address these concerns and provide clarification regarding the involvement of these NGOs, CSO’s and CBO’s.
4. We believe that these actions are essential to uphold transparency, accountability, and public trust in the government’s initiatives. Without this information, there is a risk of skepticism and doubt among the citizens of Delta State.
We kindly request your urgent attention to this matter and hope for a swift and transparent resolution. Our goal is to ensure that the interests of the people of Delta State are protected and that the government’s actions are carried out in a fair and unbiased manner.
Thank you for your prompt consideration of this petition.
Yours Faithfully,
Comrade Anthony Asakitikpi
