“Petition regarding PDP Ward 07 Crisis and the Need for Investigation into Youth Representative Appointment of 40 years and below should be addressed.”
I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to bring to your attention a matter of utmost importance regarding the recent crisis within Ward 07 of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State and the need that It is very important that “failure should not be compensated for in Delta State PDP”. *Any ward that failed to deliver should not be encouraged because if they are encouraged, in the next election, everyone will not see the need to work hard to deliver their units or wards since failure is now been compensated for. We need equity, fairness and justice else we are sowing a seed of disaffection that will be a near future albatross.
It is our sincere belief that immediate action is necessary to rectify the situation and ensure fairness, equity, and justice prevail in the party.
As you are aware, the time has come for the appointment of three individuals from each ward across the twenty-five local government areas of Delta State. Unfortunately, Ward 07 has become embroiled in a contentious dispute due to the imposition of certain individuals by Austin Ayemidejor, Austin Arieja, Richard Okotie, and Chief Godwin Dadi, the Chairman of PDP Sapele LGA. This crisis of ward 7 PDP Sapele LGA is only but a reference point, we have similar crisis going on in other words of the 25 existing local government area.
The people of Ward 07, firmly assert their support for Solomon Afinotan from the Ojolu/Ireto axis according to our intelligence and information gathering. Mr. Afinotan has demonstrated unwavering commitment and dedication to the party, both financially and physically. He successfully delivered his two units in the Ojolu axis to the PDP, despite the loss of the Ireto three units to the APC. Additionally, it is noteworthy that the Ireto axis already holds positions of influence within the ward, such as the present councillor, ward secretary, and previous delegate.
We vehemently reject any form of imposition and insist that the Ireto axis should not produce any candidate for this appointment. The individual whom they are planning to impose against the wishes of the Ojolu axis is the current ward secretary of the party, who was not actively involved during and after the elections as alleged.
We are also experiencing lately that Leaders that are close to 60 years or above are nominating themselves or their wives. Kindly take note that it is unfair that a man who is above 40 years will also want to claim he is a youth. We sincerely need to define the meaning of a Youth with respect to 40 years as mandated by the Delta State PDP Party Chairman.
It is essential to emphasize that the proper execution of grassroots political appointments holds significant consequences for the Delta State PDP in the future, particularly in the upcoming 2027 elections. We urgently call for the strict adherence to the rule of law and compliance with the prescriptions set forth by the Delta State PDP Chairman and Your Excellency, the Executive Governor. Disregarding or treating these guidelines with contempt undermines the integrity of our party.
Furthermore, we firmly believe that failure should not be rewarded within the Delta State PDP. If wards that have failed to deliver are encouraged and compensated, it will undoubtedly discourage hard work and dedication in future elections. We implore you to champion equity, fairness, and justice by ensuring that only deserving and committed individuals are appointed to these crucial positions.
In light of the foregoing, we kindly request that you undertake a thorough investigation into the crisis in Ward 07 and take appropriate actions to rectify the situation. We trust in your wisdom, leadership, and commitment to the betterment of our great party and the people of Delta State.
