In a momentous meeting that could shape the future of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA), the Oba of Ogbaland, His Eminence Sir Nwachukwu Obuoha Nnam Obi III, has issued a powerful call to action, urging political leaders to usher in a new era of accountability and development. This royal charge came during a high-profile courtesy visit by the newly installed Executive Chairman of ONELGA, Prince Isaac Umejuru, who led key officials of the council to the palace of the revered Oba.

The Oba, known for his deep connection with the people and strong stance on leadership, minced no words in emphasizing the need for transparency, urging the ONELGA chairman to be a shining example of governance. “ONELGA is tired of being left behind,” the Oba declared, his voice resonating through the royal hall. “Our people deserve leaders who will stand at the forefront, ensuring the dividends of democracy reach every corner of this land.”

In a dramatic moment, the Oba laid his hands on Prince Umejuru, bestowing his blessings upon the chairman and calling on the ancestors to guide his administration. The monarch warned that the people of ONELGA will hold him accountable, and there would be no room for excuses. “This is your time to shine,” the Oba said. “Do not be distracted by the politics around you. Focus on the needs of the people and the progress of our land.”

The Oba’s charge comes at a critical time for ONELGA, a local government that has long struggled with underdevelopment, insecurity, and internal strife. With his blessings, the Oba also advised Prince Umejuru to build strong relationships within his administration, especially with the legislative arm and council staff, stressing that a united team would make implementing life-changing projects easier. “When there is peace within your leadership, development will follow,” the Oba noted.

Following the royal visit, Prince Isaac Umejuru, visibly inspired by the Oba’s words, addressed journalists. He expressed gratitude for the monarch’s wisdom and pledged to embark on a transformative agenda for ONELGA. “Today’s visit has strengthened my resolve to bring real change to our people,” Umejuru stated with confidence. “We will work tirelessly to ensure that the peace we have fought so hard to maintain is sustained, and I assure you that we will bring the dividends of democracy closer to the people.”

All eyes are now on the new chairman as he takes on the monumental task of leading the local government into a new era of prosperity.

This visit marks not only a symbolic union between traditional authority and political leadership but also sets the tone for a bold, new direction in ONELGA—one where the people’s needs take center stage.
