Today, May 28, 2025, I remember my beloved mother, Madam Charity Agbukor, who passed away one year ago. As I reflect on her life and legacy, I am filled with a mix of emotions – sadness, gratitude, and celebration.

My mother was an extraordinary woman whose selflessness, kindness, and generosity inspired countless lives. She was a rock, a pillar, and a guiding light to our family, and her impact would be felt for generations to come.

I remember my mother’s unwavering dedication to our family, her unrelenting passion for education, and her tireless efforts to ensure our success. She was a constant source of encouragement, support, and prayer, always pushing us to reach our full potential.

One of my fondest memories of my mother was her remarkable ability to bring people together. She had a unique gift for creating a sense of community and belonging, and our home was always filled with laughter, love, and warmth.

As I look back on my mother’s life, I am struck by her remarkable legacy. She was a woman of immense faith whose love for God and humanity inspired everyone around her. Her generosity, kindness, and compassion touched countless lives, and her impact will be felt for years to come.

As I mourn the loss of my beloved mother, I take comfort in the knowledge that she is now at peace, resting in the bosom of her Lord and Creator. I am grateful for the time we had together, for the lessons she taught me, and for the love she showed me.

To my mother, I say thank you. Thank you for being such an incredible role model, for showing me the importance of kindness, compassion, and generosity. Thank you for being my rock, my pillar, and my guiding light. I will miss you dearly, but I know that your legacy will live on through me and our family.

My mother was laid to rest at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church cemetery in the Iviukwe community, where she was buried with dignity and respect. The then parish priest, Very Rev. Mark Akhibi offered prayers for her while Rev. Fr. Timothy Etsenamhe prayed for her and blessed the grave with Holy water after two weeks.

Three weeks after her burial, Most Rev. Dr. Gabriel Ghieakhomo Dunia, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Auchi, prayed for her happy repose at St. Vincent Catholic Church, Okpella.

My mother was also honoured by numerous priests of the Catholic Diocese of Auchi during her one-month memorial Mass, which was celebrated by a roll call of priests, including Very Rev. Fr. John Aligamhe, Timothy Etsenamhe, Linus Imoedemhe, Augustine Ogane, David John Oshioke, Justice Ubonu, and Fr. Joseph Aferuan Attani.

Rest in peace, dear mother. Your memory will be a blessing to me and our family forever.
