Obafemi Awolowo University has officially entered the consumer tech market with the launch of its own smartphone and smartwatch brand, OAK-io.
The unveiling took place during the university’s Symposium on AI & Robotics in Clinical Practice, showcasing devices developed by a spin-off from OAU’s ICT-Driven Knowledge Park.
Designed with Africa’s AI-powered future in mind, the OAK-io phones and smartwatches reflect the university’s commitment to innovation and technology tailored for the continent.
The launch represents a milestone for OAU, positioning it as a notable player in Africa’s emerging tech ecosystem.
