In her address, Muhammad expressed delight with the conduct of the corps members throughout the three weeks orientation exercise which she said indicated that they were ready to make impact in anywhere they are posted to.

She then urged them to accept their posting in good faith, settle down quickly and ensure harmonious relationship with their host communities.

“I also urged you to contribute meaningfully to enriching lives of the people of your host communities, respect their ways of life, religion, customs and traditions and live peacefully with everyone throughout the service year,” she said.

Muhammad also tasked the corps members to take advantage of the new skills learnt during the three weeks orientation exercise which were designed to empower them to be self reliant, employers of labour and not job seekers.

She called on them to make valid contributions by identifying with the felt needs of their host communities, and carry out viable Community Development projects.

“Such projects will ensure the betterment of communities and the enhancement of their living condition,” she said.

She however warned the corps members to avoid using the social media for rumour peddling and the promotion of hatred but instead ensure that their activities online should be targeted at self-improvement as well as promotion of unity, peace and prosperity of Nigeria.

“Also avoid being speculative on issues affecting NYSC. Visit our website, social media platforms and other official channels for clarification. Remember your Zonal and Local Government Inspectors are also available to you, should you have any enquiries to make,” she said.

The Nasarawa NYSC coordinator also admonished the corps members to take security matters seriously, avoid unauthorized journeys and association with strange fellows of questionable characters, move in groups.

“You must have with you always your NYSC identity card, wear your NYSC uniform most times and make use of the security tips booklet issued to you. Above all, put your trust and confidence in God,” she added. END
