NNPC Resumes Oil Drilling In Nasarawa

It was gathered that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has resume drilling of oil in the Ebenyi-A well located in Nasarawa State.

 

The Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, Mele Kyari disclosed this on Tuesday.

In his statement he revealed that, the spud-in of Ebenyi-A well in the Ajibu community of Obi Local Government Area will increase the daily production of oil from 1.6 million barrels per day (bpd) to 3m bpd soon.

 

To witness the exploration ceremony in Nassarawa was President Muhammadu Buhari who stated that the discovery and drilling of this oil in Nasarawa State will surely be of strong economic benefit to Nigerians even as they enhance energy security as well in general.

 

In his own word he expressed, “Today’s occasion marks the official commencement of exploration drilling activities in the middle Benue Trough. This is consistent with the commercial discoveries of hydrocarbon in the Kolmani area of the Upper Benue Trough.”

 

The President went further mention that the surrounding communities will not be left out from the benefits harnessed from the value of the exploration and eventual production activities.

 

Even as NNPC extends its crude oil exploration to other areas; Chad Basin, Dahomey Basin, Anambra Platform, the Calabar Embankment, Sokoto Basin, Bida Basin, Benue Trough, and the Ultra-Deepwater Niger Delta.
