
The Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA) has called on stakeholders in flood management and mitigation to remain vigilant, as 27 states are projected to experience flooding between July 22 and August 5, 2025.
The affected states include Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as well as Gombe, Imo, Jigawa, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba, and Yobe.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, NIHSA warned that 739 communities across 162 local government areas could be impacted. The agency urged communities at risk to implement evacuation plans to ensure safety.
