The Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, met with the Honourable Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Friday, 6 February 2026, for a strategic engagement focused on advancing Nigeria’s sports ecosystem through coordinated government action. The meeting explored practical measures to strengthen institutional collaboration in support of national sports development.
A key outcome of the discussions was the proposal to establish a dedicated Sports Visa category framework to enable seamless entry and exit for athletes, officials, and global sports stakeholders engaging with Nigeria. The initiative, when fully activated, will support Nigeria’s ambition to host high-value tournaments and international programmes, unlock sports-driven investments in alignment with the RHINSE framework, and position sports as a structured driver of economic growth, youth development, and national pride.
