LASERC has officially licensed two new electricity distribution companies — Excel Distribution Company Ltd and IE Energy Lagos Ltd — replacing Eko and Ikeja Electric across Lagos State.
The licences were presented on Oct 2, 2025, at the Radisson Blu, Ikeja, in a ceremony led by LASERC Chairman, Engr. Abimbola Odubiyi, and CEO, Dr. Fouad Animashaun.
With this, Eko Disco and Ikeja Electric have ceased to exist as recognised distributors in Lagos. The new licensees are now fully responsible for power distribution across the state.

The move cements Lagos’ push toward energy independence, private sector innovation, and better service delivery to its 20 million+ residents.
