President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, has announced key details of the proposed 2029 African Nations League, describing it as a continental competition involving all 54 African countries.
According to Motsepe, the tournament will feature high-profile matchups such as Kenya vs Tanzania, Ghana vs Nigeria, Egypt vs Morocco, and Ivory Coast vs Cameroon.
He explained that the competition will be hosted in one country with all top African players expected to participate, adding that the matches will be played during the FIFA international window.

The CAF President further revealed that the tournament will adopt a zonal-based format, where countries within each region will compete with host nations like Nigeria potentially staging all West African fixtures.
Zonal winners will later advance to compete for the ultimate prize, with a draw to determine the final stage of the competition.
