Nevadic Limited, a Nigerian-bred energy and power company in partnership with AceOn (Lead) recently unveiled the SolarSDS portable solar generator built by AceOn for the first time in Nigeria onboard HMS Trent Royal Navy Batch 2 Ocean Patrol Vessel (OPV) during FCDO-DIT organized exhibition.

This signposts the craving for a versatile, portable, pocket-friendly and alternative power supply cum energy storage combo unit in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The enthusiasm that were shown by guests to Nevadic’s exhibition stand in acquiring the SolarSDS for their primary and backup power supply needs is an indicator that there is a huge underserved market lying untapped in Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa as a whole.

The UK-FCDO Department for International Trade initiative in organizing and bringing together UK and Nigerian organizations to engender mutual business relationships is a potential panacea for solving the energy trilemma on climate change while closing the energy poverty gap in Nigeria using innovative sodium-ion battery technology.

It is gratifying that Innovate UK and UkAid have taken the bold and necessary step in funding the quartet of AceOn, Nevadic, University of Wolverhampton and DZP Technologies via the Energy Catalyst Round 8 global competition vehicle, specifically for the development of Sodium-ion battery technology solution for use in portable solar generators such as the SolarSDS and mobile trailer charging stations.

The coast is now clear for a phenomenal energy storage transition towards the development, adoption and commercialization of Sodium-ion battery technology led by AceOn in partnership with Nevadic, University of Wolverhampton, and DZP Technologies.
