The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has launched a strategic initiative in Ondo State to commemorate the 2024 International Women’s Day. The programme, themed “The Role of Women in Sustainable Development”, brought together over 200 women from across Ondo State to highlight the importance of women’s active participation in the development of the Niger Delta. Declaring the event open, Hon. Ifedayo Sunday Abegunde emphasised women’s pivotal role in fostering sustainable development, urging men and women to collaborate for a prosperous society.
Speaking to attendees, Hon. Abegunde encouraged participants to learn from the wealth of expertise shared by resource persons present at the event. He underscored that sustainable development requires an inclusive approach where all members of society contribute to achieving common goals. The event provided a platform for women to engage, exchange ideas, and explore actionable steps to enhance their role in the development of Ondo State and the wider Niger Delta region.
