The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) welcomed members of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) to its headquarters on a courtesy and solidarity visit.
Representing the Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, the Executive Director of Projects, Sir Victor Antai, praised the IYC and other ethnic groups for their support, emphasizing the importance of collective effort in rebuilding the Niger Delta region. He highlighted Dr Ogbuku’s innovative leadership as a critical driving force behind progress, citing significant achievements such as the intervention on the East-West Road between Bayelsa and Rivers State. Antai urged all stakeholders to unite with the current administration to ensure sustainable development.
Meanwhile, the IYC Vice President Freedom Atigbi, who led the group to the headquarters of the Commission, distanced itself from a faction of disgruntled youths planning to protest against the NDDC, reaffirming its commitment to promoting peace and collaboration. The management and staff of the NDDC were also present at the event.
