The National Defence College has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to regional peace and security, as the ECOWAS Senior Mission Leaders Course officially commences in Abuja.
The Commandant of the College, Rear Admiral Abdullahi Ahmed, stated this in a message delivered by the Deputy Commandant, Major General Kelvin Ukandu, at the opening of the ECOWAS Senior Mission Leaders Course.
The strategic programme is aimed at strengthening peacekeeping and crisis management across West Africa, with focus on conflict prevention, crisis management, and post-conflict reconstruction, stressing that modern peacekeeping requires diplomacy, cultural sensitivity, gender awareness, and sound strategic decision-making.
The course is also designed to strengthen participants’ capacity for strategic-level engagement in response to the prevailing security challenges across the region.
