The Comptroller General Customs Service (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi on 23 May, 2024 at the service headquarters, joined hands with Lafarge Nigeria Limited to enhance trade facilitation.
In a meeting with representatives from the organisation, CGC Adeniyi gave Lafarge accolades for their important role in Nigeria’s economic development. He also commended them for their compliance efforts over the years and providing jobs for Nigerians.
The Comptroller General of Customs said he sees the organisation as a critical partner in the Nigerian Economic Project.
According to the CGC, “Compliance helps to build trust and deepens the bond that unites us. It is the bedrock of any relationship. We are pleased that you prioritise and acknowledge building a partnership.
“Majority of our work for the organised private sector is based on compliance and trust. Once the trust exists between the businesses we represent and the government, relationship will become more stronger and beneficial to all the partners involved.’’
He also declared that the Nigeria Customs Service is willing to support initiatives proposed by manufacturers to ensure that a better environment is provided for them to conduct their business. He noted, revenue generation and employment opportunities can only be created when all stakeholders involved are well.
The Group Managing Director/CEO of Lafarge Africa PLC Lolu Alade-Akinyemi, expressed gratitude to CGC Adeniyi for actions taken to assist the manufacturing sector in achieving its goals. He also pledged to work jointly with the CGC to accomplish shared objectives.
He further stated that Lafarge has the desire to foster a stronger working efficiency with NCS, create a more globally competitive, more productive economy and society.
