Modibbo stated this in an interview with newsmen in Keffi local government area of the state on recently.

According to Modibbo, from the first Vice Chancellor, Prof Adamu Baiki to the current Vice Chancellor,Prof Sa’adatu Liman, NSUK has enjoyed good leadership resulting in the rapid growth of the university.

“Nasarawa state university is barely 21 to 22 years old now and the reason for the rapid growth is the good leadership that we are fortunate to have in the university.

“We are fortunate to enjoy good leadership from the beginning with the first Vice Chancellor Prof Adamu Beki and subsequent Vice Chancellors setting a good foundation.

“Another reason for the rapid growth is our proximity to Abuja that has placed us in a very vantage position where people are now rushing to come and study and lecture here,” he said.

Modibbo also credited the massive support from the state government and the policy of previous and the present Vice Chancellors to take in and employ students and lecturers from different backgrounds, making the institution one of the most diverse in the country.

He added that the emphasis on strictly professionalism between students and lecturers and the close monitoring of lecturers work ethics is another key to success and rapid growth of the university.

“We track our lecturers constantly and staff or department that delays with regards to academic obligations, we sanction them.

“If a student is up and doing and a lecturer is delaying or not up the task assigned to him, they should be reported to management because we have zero tolerance for that behavior from our lecturers.

“Since I came on board as the DVC Academics I have queried some lecturers to explain why they are delaying in or not carrying out their duties just to ensure they do the right thing,” he said.

He then described the work rate of the newly appointed VC, Prof Sa’adatu Liman as impressive, adding since she came on board on April 2, 2024 progress have already been made especially in terms of infrastructure in the institution.

“She is very hardworking and we hope she continues that way so she can be able to surpass the achievements of her predecessor, Prof Suleiman Bala-Mohammed,” he added.
