Nasarawa Leaders Praise Wadada for Promoting Religious Harmony

Some political and traditional leaders in Nasarawa state have applauded Sen. Ahmed Wadada (APC/Nasarawa West) for promoting religious harmony in the state.

 

They commended the senator in separate interviews with newsmen in Keffi local government area of the state recently during the inauguration of the Masjid Zaidan, a Mosque built by the senator in Keffi.

Our reporter gathered that despite the event been an Islamic one in nature, a large contingent of christian faithfuls, including christian traditional leaders were also in attendance.

 

Some of the christian attendees told newsmen that they had decided to honour the senator’s event because of his fairness and goodwill towards followers of both religions in the state.

 

Speaking to newsmen, Hon. Abdulmumin Ari, (APC/Nasarawa/Toto Federal Constituency) praised Wadada for the effort and said the gesture will go a long way in providing Muslim faithful living close to the mosque to meet, hear sermons and attend Jumaat services on fridays.

 

He also commended the senator for always advocating for peace and religious tolerance in the state, adding that his efforts have gone a long way in strengthening the relationship between Muslims and christians in the state.

Dr Aliyu Bello, Nasarawa state Chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) said the christian and Muslim personalities at the inauguration ceremony is an indication of how much effort Wadada has put in entrenching religious tolerance and unity in Nasarawa West senatorial zone and the state at large.

 

“Look at the personalities here to witness this grand ceremony, both christians and Muslims personalities. This shows we are living in unity in Nasarawa state and we should continues to live in harmony and unity.

 

“This effort shows that the distinguished senator is really interested in the religious state of his people and we really appreciate him for the gesture,” he said.

 

In his remarks, Barr. Joel Aninge, Odyong Nyankpa and traditional ruler of Panda chiefdom in Karu local government area of the state praised Wadada for his tireless efforts in strengthening the relationship between Muslims and Christians, stressing the need for coexistence as one family, without causing differences and disrespect for each other.

 

In an interview, Wadada said the project was embarked upon for the purpose of expanding the mission of Allah, not because he is too wealthy or for any show of agility, but with the ability and resources that God has enabled him to complete the mosque.

 

Wadada who appreciated Governor Abdullahi Sule for ensuring that the state is conducive for faithfuls of both religions to practice in peace and unity urged both faiths to respect and honour one another for the purpose of eternity.
