In a play titled “Much Ado About Nothing” and believed to have been written in the late 16th century by William Shakespeare, the plot is driven by various misunderstandings and schemes, leading to comic and sometimes dramatic situations.

Today, the phrase “much ado about nothing” has come to mean making a fuss over something trivial or unimportant, describing situations where a lot of attention and drama are given to a matter that ultimately turns out to be insignificant.

The foregoing anecdote seems to best portray the ways of opposition politics and closet critics in Anambra State today.

In the context of democracy, toxic pull-it-down opposition politics threatens progress. Instead of constructive criticism, it peddles misinformation and sows subversive propaganda.

This venomous approach endangers good governance and stifles societal development. It is time for a paradigm shift towards responsible, collaborative politics for the betterment of all.

In recent days, social media platforms have been awash with mischievous news stories, pictures, and videos purportedly showcasing a makeshift ‘roundabout’ structure on Club Road within Awka metropolis purportedly constructed by the government.

These images have been wielded as weapons by jaundiced critics of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s administration, aiming to disparage his government and paint a misleading picture of the progress being made in the state.

Let us be unequivocal in our assertion that these viral images and videos are nothing more than distortions of reality, carefully crafted to mislead the public and tarnish the reputation of a government that is earnestly committed to the welfare and development of its people.

It is imperative that Ndi Anambra exercise discernment and not allow them to be swayed by the deliberate misrepresentation of facts with regards to roads still under construction in Anambra State.

Some critics in Anambra State have shown a penchant for playing dirty politics, using misinformation campaigns to undermine the legitimate efforts of Governor Charles Soludo’s administration.

Such tactics are not only disingenuous but also detrimental to the progress and prosperity of the state.

Contrary to the narrow narrative being peddled by these critics, the alleged ‘roundabout’ being peddled as a project by the state government are current road projects under construction.

Currently, over 370 road projects are under various stages of construction, a demonstration of Governor Soludo’s relentless commitment to transforming the state’s landscape and improving the lives of its citizens.

So, there is no way the alleged ‘roundabout’ could be called one of the completed projects by the government. It is an expensive joke taken too far by deranged critics and toxic purveyors of deconstruction.

It is imperative that we allow the dedicated contractors working tirelessly on the many road projects across the state to do their job without needless distractions from asinine critics. The path to progress is fraught with challenges, but these challenges should be met with constructive engagement and support rather than unfounded criticism. While the critics are raising a storm in a tea cup of a ‘roundabout’, can they be decent enough to pay visits to some of the completed and nearly completed road projects in the state and see real projects?

For instance, critics can come to see the almost completed 16.421km Ajalli-Ufuma-Akpu-Nawfija-Ogbunka and Amansea-Ezinator-Ndiukwuenu-Awa-Ufuma road projects being done by DATUM Construction Company.

The critics can also visit the 16km Ukpor-Umunuko-Nza-Ozubulu Road (popularly known as Afor to Afor) which has been 100% completed and is already in use by Ndi Anambra. There are several other road projects in various stages of completion, all being built to last.

So, when the collective progress of a state is at stake, it is paramount that we rise above the divisive tactics of political opportunists. Let us remember that our shared goal is the progress of Anambra State and the welfare of its people.

Governor Charles Soludo’s administration deserves credit for its unwavering commitment to progress and development in Anambra State. Ndi Anambra should rally behind the concerted efforts to build a brighter future for all. It is only through unity, determination, and a steadfast focus on the truth that we can overcome the obstacles on our path to progress.
