
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a warning about a fraudulent social media accounts being used by unscrupulous individuals to spread false information under the guise of its officials.
In a statement, the Ministry’s Spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa disclosed that a fake Facebook account impersonating the Permanent Secretary, Amb. Dunoma Ahmed, was recently created.

The account has been used to disseminate misinformation, offer fake contracts, solicit assistance, and lure unsuspecting members of the public with false rewards.
The Ministry clarified that Amb. Dunoma Ahmed does not own or operate any personal or official social media accounts and strongly disassociates itself from the fraudulent profile.
Therefore the ministry is urging the public to disregard any communication from the fake account, as it is not an official channel and advised the public to avoid engaging with individuals or groups behind such scams, but rather report to authorities.
The Ministry also confirmed it is collaborating with security agencies and Meta (Facebook’s parent company) to shut down the impersonating account.
Ebienfa reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to transparency, integrity, and safeguarding citizens from online fraud..
