History will have it recorded as the May 29 has just attracted a public holiday as the Federal Government declares Monday May 29, as public holiday to commemorate the inauguration of President-elect Bola Tinubu and his Deputy, Kashim Shettima.
In view of this remarkable ceremony, the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, announced in a statement by Permanent Secretary Shuaib Belgore on Friday.
Aregbesola went further to congratulate Nigerians for their faith in democracy and their full participation in the nationwide election that produced the incoming leaders while thanking Nigerians for their resilient spirit in sustaining democracy and peaceful transitions of government since 1999 till date.
He thereby urged Nigerians to continue to support democracy by adhering to the rule of law, supporting democratic institutions, promoting free and responsible press, and advancing the frontiers of freedom for all the people.
To this end, Aregbesola concluded that democracy is an unfinished business that requires constant improvement and vigilance and also beckon on Nigerians to continually promote peaceful coexistence and love for their neighbors as democracy can only progress in a peaceful environment for the dividend of democracy to be delivered with good governance and better welfare for all Nigerians.
