… as PTML donates block Of classrooms, others to school in Mile II
The Commissioner for Basic & Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun has called for more intervention from corporate organisations in Lagos State to assist the government in providing adequate infrastructure to cater for the ever growing youth population.
The Commissioner stated this during the commissioning and handover ceremony of a block of classrooms and furniture at Amuwo Odofin Junior High School by the Ports and Terminal Multiservices Limited (PTML), led by the Managing Director, Mr. Ascanio Russo. He thanked the management of the company for contributing towards the welfare and education development and growth of students within its business environs.
Alli-Balogun also used the occasion to admonish teachers and students to take ownership for the computers, over 100 pieces of furniture donated and others
The Managing Director Ports & Terminal Multiservices Limited, Mr. Ascanio Russo, in his remark, stated that the organisation embarked on major infrastructural enhancement within the schools in Mile 2 school complex with the construction of a 502-metre long and seven metre wide interlocked access road and a 50kva transformer to serve both Amuwo-Odofin Junior and Senior School.
He further stated that the company has provided a security gate and well-finished gatehouse at the school with a 50kva transformer, a borehole and water treatment plant, 100 dual desks as well as providing tables, chairs and drawers for students and staff at all the 10 schools within mile 2 school complex.
Russo said Ports & Terminal Multiservices Limited proudly constructed and furnished the new building housing 10 classrooms with optimal learning facilities such as desks, chairs, computers and LCD televisions.
This, according to Mr Russo, is aimed at equipping the future leaders with the tools necessary for their success during their basic and secondary education years, thereby fostering an educated workforce that is environmentally conscious to face global challenges.
The Permanent Secretary, Mr. Abayomi Abolaji thanked the management and staff of Ports & Terminal Multiservices Limited for putting gesture and encouraged the student and teachers to make good use of the new classroom.m
The Chairman, Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Engr. Valentine Buraimoh also thanked the company for their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) while imploring the organisation to do more for the benefit of the residents of Amuwo Odofin.
The Chairman of the parents forum also thanked the government and the Ports & Terminal Multiservices Limited for the beautiful edifice that has been bestow on the school with a promised to ensure the cooperation of parents so that the building remains in the best state.
The commissioning was witnessed by the Principals of the 10 schools in Mile 2 School Complex, parents, community leaders and youths.
