The Lagos State Government has promised to improve investment in the state’s transportation sector with the plan to deliver more innovative interventions in water transportation.

Making this known during a scheduled visit to Lagos Ferry Services (LAGFERRY) operational base at Mile 2 Terminal, the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the water transportation industry in Lagos will be a model for other states across the country.

Expressing delight over the newly launched E-fleet Surveillance System, Osiyemi commended the management of the agency, revealing that the State Government will continue to support LAGFERRY in achieving its plan of ferrying 30% of Lagosians via the waterways.

 

Describing innovation as a game-changer, the Commissioner stated that the new technological advancement will boost operations in the waterways as the safety of passengers is prioritised and monitored in real-time.

 

“I want to commend the Agency for this initiative. This would increase passengers’ confidence and assured them of their safety”, he stated

 

He urged the agency to create more awareness of its services, especially as the yuletide season approaches by highlighting the activities and social events that can be hosted on its barge – “MV Adimu Orisa”.

 

The Managing Director, LAGFERRY, Hon. Abdoulbaq Ladi Balogun while reeling out the numerous achievements and activities of the agency, assured the Commissioner of the Agency’s strong commitment to the vision of the State Government in the transportation sector.

 

Balogun applauded Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s stride in enhancing the effectiveness of the multi-modal transport system, particularly his investments in water transportation.
