The Lagos State Government has said that it is set to host a landmark Physical Planning Summit in October that will bring together stakeholders from far and wide to discuss and shape the future of physical planning in the State.
The summit, themed: “Lagos, Africa’s Model Mega City: Issues and Prospects”, slated for October 15th and 16th at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, aims to explore the challenges and opportunities facing Lagos as it strives to become a smart mega city and identify strategies for sustainable physical planning and development.
According to a release by Mukaila Sanusi, Head of Public Affairs, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, some of the pivotal issues to be discussed include “Urbanisation and its impacts on physical planning”, “Innovative approaches to physical planning and urban design” and “Stakeholders’ engagement and participation in development plans”.
Others, according to him, are “sustainable development strategies for a resilient Lagos”, “Effective governance” and ‘policy frameworks for physical planning”.
While revealing that more information on registration details will be announced soon, he averred that the summit promises to be a groundbreaking event, offering a unique opportunity for stakeholders to contribute to the development of a comprehensive physical planning framework for Lagos State.
