This initiative, part of Diageo’s Learning for Life (L4L) programme, underscores the State’s commitment to building a skilled workforce through impactful public-private partnerships.

The official launch of the programme took place on Monday, July 14, 2025, on the 11th floor of The Wings Tower, Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Representing the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, at the event was the Honourable Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Hon. Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, who commended Diageo Nigeria for bringing the initiative to Lagos.

Describing Learning for Life as “a bold step toward sustainable youth development,” the Governor emphasized its alignment with the State Government’s THEMES+ Agenda, particularly in the areas of education, youth empowerment, and social inclusion.

“This partnership between Diageo Nigeria and the Lagos State Government is a shining example of how public-private collaboration can drive meaningful change—especially in tackling unemployment and promoting skills development,” he said.

The Learning for Life programme is designed to equip beneficiaries with practical skills in hospitality, bartending, entrepreneurship, and retail sectors that continue to thrive amid Lagos’ cultural vibrancy and expanding tourism economy.

With this initiative, the State aims not only to provide jobs but also to create sustainable livelihood opportunities that will contribute to long-term economic growth.
