The Lagos State Government has announced the immediate closure of Eko Bridge (outbound to Lagos Island) for urgent safety investigations and repairs.
A statement signed by the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi explained that the closure, which begins on Tuesday, 12th May, 2026, affects the carriageway between Apongbon and Ijora Olopa.
Osiyemi said: “Motorists are advised to use the Third Mainland Bridge as an alternative route. The inward carriageway to Lagos Island will remain open to traffic.
“Adequate traffic and security personnel will be deployed on alternative routes to ensure smooth traffic flow during the period.”
