The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic management plan ahead of the reconstruction of a section of the Lagos-bound carriageway between Super Bus-Stop and Ilepo Bus-Stop along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

The reconstruction, to be carried out by the Federal Ministry of Works, will commence on Saturday, March 7, 2026, and end on Saturday, May 30, 2026, spanning 12 weeks.

During this period, the main carriageway from Super Bus-Stop to Ilepo Bus-Stop (inbound Lagos) will be completely closed to traffic.

To ease movement along the corridor, the government outlined alternative routes for Lagos-bound motorists:

Option 1: Motorists from Abeokuta/Sango Tollgate heading to Lagos/Oshodi will be diverted into the BRT corridor at Super Bus-Stop and exit at Pleasure Bus-Stop (Ilepo) to continue their journeys.

Option 2: Motorists may divert through Ekoro Road to Old Otta Road via Alira Street, linking Abeokuta Street and reconnecting at Pleasure Bus-Stop.

Option 3: Alternatively, motorists can use the Abule Egba Underbridge to connect Agege and proceed to their destinations.

The government stated that traffic on the Abeokuta-bound carriageway will remain uninterrupted throughout the construction period.

For effective breakdown management, emergency tow vehicles will be stationed within the BRT corridor to ensure swift recovery operations.

Motorists have been advised to remain patient, comply with traffic signs, and cooperate with traffic management officials deployed along the corridor to ensure the safe and efficient execution of the project.
