
…vows To Ensure Global Competitiveness for Nursing Profession
A new chapter has officially begun at the Lagos State College of Nursing Igando, as Dr. (Mrs.) Ayodeji Ogunmuyiwa was sworn in as the new substantive Provost.

In her inaugural address on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, Dr. Ogunmuyiwa pledged to elevate LASCON’s academic and professional standards with a clear vision to ensure its graduates are globally competitive and equipped to meet the evolving healthcare needs of Lagos State and beyond.
Acknowledging LASCON’s pivotal role in addressing the state’s healthcare demands by producing world-class health professionals, the new Provost expressed unwavering commitment to raising the institution’s profile nationally and internationally. She also emphasised her dedication to maintaining a consistent and smooth academic calendar.
“There is work to be done,” Dr. Ogunmuyiwa stated during her official welcome ceremony at the College. “We need to cover more ground if we hope to elevate the standards of nursing education in this institution and, by extension, the State. I want all of you to join me in fulfilling this very critical mandate. It is hard, but not impossible.”
In a show of support, Mr. Adeniran Kasali, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tertiary Education, reiterated the crucial need for all staff members to rally round the new Provost. He urged them to support her quest to improve the fortunes of the tertiary institution and enhance its competitiveness within the educational landscape.
Mrs. Rashidat Adams, Head of Administration and Human Resources, also welcomed Dr. Ogunmuyiwa, affirming the entire workforce’s readiness to offer unwavering support.
Dr. Ogunmuyiwa succeeds Mrs. Anuoluwapo Priestley, who served as the Acting Provost of the College.
