In a bid to tackle erring drivers and improve road safety, Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) met with Bus Operating Companies today to fine tune aspects of an application developedfor the purpose of managing professional drivers under their operations.
The application which is expected to roll out in the first quarter of 2024 would capture the biometrics of every driver, identify sacked drivers, their offences and assign a unique driver QR codeas a comprehensive approach to monitor and regulate drivers.
Head of Bus Services in LAMATA, Dr Kemi Amure, appealed to the representatives of the Bus Operating Companies to buy into the tech solution citing that they will be the drivers of the effective implementation of thesolution and its success will be dependent on their cooperation.
The representatives of the Bus Operating Companies praised the solution as a welcome development stating that the application will go a long way in getting rid of erring drivers in the system thus bringing sanity into drivers’ management and operations.
