Lalong Declares Monday, Tuesday As Public Holiday

Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, has declared Monday and Tuesday, June 27 and 28, 2022, as work-free days to enable the State’s public and civil servants to go to their respective localities and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC).

This was disclosed in a press statement signed by the Secretary to the state government, Danladi Atu and issued to newsmen on Wednesday. Atu said the Governor wants to ensure that Plateau State citizens are not denied the opportunity to participate and vote for the candidates of their choice in the forthcoming general elections.

The statement reads, “His Excellency, the Governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Simon Lalong has declared Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th June 2023 as public holidays. This is to enable citizens of Plateau State to turn out en-masse for the ongoing INEC voters registration exercise which concludes nationwide on Thursday 30th June 2022.

“The Governor, therefore, enjoins all citizens especially workers to take this opportunity to exercise their franchise preparatory to the 2023 general elections.”
