All is now set for the Lagos State Government to celebrate women entrepreneurs operating as Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and NANOs (MSMEs/NANOs) which are the backbone of every economy.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade & Investment (MCCTI) and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olugbemiga Aina, the celebration has as theme: “Economic Inclusion of Female Entrepreneurs (MSMEs/NANOs) at the Grassroots/Community Level”.
He said: “We are taking deliberate and intentional steps to Inspire Inclusion among our women entrepreneurs and strengthen their businesses as we focus on knowledge development by training, empowering, facilitating funding, mentoring and networking opportunities for women MSMEs/NANOs.
“The programme aligns with the central theme of this Year’s celebration of International Women’s Day, which is: “Inspire Inclusion” and shows the deliberate inclusion of women MSMEs/NANOs at the grassroots and supporting them to thrive in line with the fourth Pillar of the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Development Agenda, which is Making Lagos A 21st Century Economy”.
Aina averred that the event is being organised in partnership with the Women Entrepreneurs and Professional Development Network (WEPDN) and with support from Lotus Bank Plc and Wema Bank Plc.
“The event is the maiden edition and signifies the importance of celebrating and advocating for gender-based businesses and equality, which extends beyond a single day. Moreover, it will sustain dialogue and momentum around gender equality, economic empowerment and business growth initiatives”, he said.
He stated that the programme will hold on Thursday, 28th March 2024 at the Blue Roof, LTV 8 Premises, Lateef Jakande Road, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos by 10:00 am.
