The Lagos State Scholarship Board is set to begin the process that would allow it and the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) to partner with each other in a bid to reduce to the barest minimum situations of Identity Theft and take the Board to a great and enviable level.
The Executive Secretary of the Board, Mr. Abdul-Rahman Lekki stated this during his recent visit to the General Manager of LASRRA, Mrs. Bilikiss Adebiyi-Abiola at her office in Ikeja, Lagos.
He said that he would appreciate the two Agencies coming together to achieve a common goal of making the State grow and advance by having all students and prospective ones that apply for scholarships and bursaries in LASRRA’s clean data through proper unique biometric identification exercise, which could also be tied to other things the students do.
“Aside from getting student registered with LASRRA, they will also key into other initiatives that come with registering, validating and having the LAG-ID cards in their hands. It would gladden my heart if LASRRA’s registration/validation link is made accessible on the Board’s portal to make it seamless for students that are not residing or schooling in Lagos, synchronisation of the two systems for handshaking will be very much appreciated”, Lekki said.
The Executive Secretary admitted that the students’ and prospective applicants’ supply of their bio-data is not enough. Also, the lack of integration into the NIMC Portal for their National Identity Number (NIN) is a great challenge.
The General Manager of LASRRA, Adebiyi-Abiola said that the partnership is possible and that the Board could be onboarded on the Agency’s Application Programming Interface (API).

“When the Agency onboard you, you can use it to check the authenticity of students when the need arises. Once they have registered or validated, and the LAG-ID card number is input, it will bring out other details”, she explained.
