The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has disclosed that the fire agency successfully rescued 376 victims, recovered 82 dead victims of fire and saved an estimated N152.22B worth of properties from destruction in 2,537 fire incidents recorded in 2023
The Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS), Mrs. Margareth Abimbola stated this at the annual staff engagement ceremony held recently at Radio Lagos Marquee, Agidingbi, Ikeja.
She emphasised the need for a collective effort and comprehensive strategy for effective fire incident management in Lagos, reaffirming the Agency’s commitment to safeguarding Lagosians from fire incidents and related emergencies in line with the State Government’s THEMES Plus Agenda.
On his part, Mr. Olugbenga Oyerinde, the Commissioner for Special Duties commended the firefighters for their exemplary performance in the previous year and announced the approval of an improved welfare package for the firefighters.
He noted that their achievements in 2023 were a testament to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s immense support for the agency and commitment to the well-being of its staff, urging them to continue their excellent service delivery to all residents of the State.
The high point of the event was the presentation of awards to diligent officers across various categories.
