The Executive Secretary of the Agency, Ms. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi stated this at the campaign event organised by DSVA and tagged: “MEN WEY SABI”, held at the Y2023 Lagos International Trade Fair, Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan, Lagos Island, to further push the narrative of gender equality to the citizens.

Vivour-Adeniyi, who was represented by an official of the Agency, Mr. Adewusi Damilare, explained that the initiative was aimed towards addressing gender stereotypes in Lagos which statistics have shown to be among the resultant causes of Domestic Violence in various homes.

She emphasised the importance of empowering women, stressing that the collaborative effort of all stakeholders is needed to actualise the shared responsibility.

“The objective of the programme was to dispel myths about men’s participation in the kitchen as against gender-stereotyped roles ascribed to women and the value of teamwork in marriage as a critical mutual support system in homes”, she said.

The Executive Secretary urged the public including political office holders to use their space and other platforms to rally support for Gender Equality.

Vivor-Adeniyi, while drumming up support for Gender Equality disclosed that the “Market Fiesta” is to raise awareness of men’s critical roles in preventing sexual and domestic abuse and fostering marital partnership.

A cooking competition which was sponsored by Power Oil Nigeria Limited was organised to spice up the Fiesta as five men competed against each other to showcase their culinary skills in a quest to win the title of the Ultimate Power Chef.

The winner of the cooking competition Mr. Olalekan Hamed (AG) acknowledged Governor Sanwo-Olu’s efforts to create the needed balance for both genders to thrive in the society which, according to him, would create healthier human relations and a safer society.

He expressed gratitude to the organisers for infusing the idea into the 2023 Lagos International Trade Fair.
