LAGOS COMMUNITIES COMMEND LASPA FOR EFFECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION OF PARKING POLICY

Following the enforcement exercise initiated on Thursday, some residents of Lagos have expressed their appreciation for the proactive measures taken by the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) in addressing the issue of indiscriminate parking across various areas of the state.

 

Residents of Aderibigbe Street in Yaba have appreciated the leadership of the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) for promptly acceding to their request to regulate indiscriminate parking of vehicles within and around their neighbourhood.

In a letter addressed to LASPA and signed by Mr. Temitope Adelowo, the Secretary of the Community Development Association (CDA), the residents of Yaba acknowledged improvement in the movement of vehicles within the area.

 

The letter reads in part, “We, the residents of Aderibigbe Street, Yaba, Lagos, wish to express our sincere gratitude for your prompt and positive response to our request to place ‘No Parking’ signage and restrict parking on our narrow street to only one side. The installation of signage by LASPA has effectively restored order to our street”.

 

The Association also commended the professionalism displayed by LASPA officials during the exercise.

 

Adelowo remarked, “We also want to use this opportunity to commend all your staff that came in contact with us for their patience, professionalism, and dedication to their duties.

 

“LASPA has taken additional steps to address parking issues by installing warning and directional signs on major roads, aiming to alleviate traffic congestion caused by indiscriminate parking”.

 

Similarly, residents of Bankole Street in Pedro, Bariga LCDA, Lagos, also expressed their gratitude to LASPA for the timely intervention of the Authority in managing parking-related challenges in their area.

 

In a letter signed by Mr. Ogbe Mejebi, the residents thanked LASPA for enforcing regulations against indiscriminate parking, resulting in improved traffic flow and safety on their streets.

 

Reacting to the commendations, the General Manager of LASPA, Mrs. Adebisi Adelabu informed that the Lagos State Parking Authority has embarked on full-scale implementation of the parking policy, with the aim to reduce parking-induced traffic congestion and enhancing commuting experiences for all residents and visitors.

 

She urged Lagos residents and visitors to comply with traffic regulations and avoid indiscriminate parking to facilitate smooth movement across the state.
