…to restore State’s Aesthetics, Masterplan
To restore the master plan and ensure a healthier environment, the Lagos State Government on Saturday commenced the removal of permanently closed inner road gates in the Lekki Phase I axis of the State. The exercise is also to ease the untold hardship of motorists who are denied access to public roads.
The enforcement operation which was authorized by Mr. Governor followed several days of traffic snarl which residents connecting Lekki were experiencing due to the inaccessibility of connecting roads.
Roads and streets already enforced since the operation started include Sir Rufus Foluso Giwa, Theophilus Oji, Osaro Isokpan, Abike Sulaiman, Ben Okagbue MBA, Olubunmi Rotimi, Olanrewaju Ninalowo, Dele Adedeji, Abayomi Sonuga, Siji Soetan and Rasheed Alaba Williams.
The State Government decided to commence the enforcement following the indiscriminate mounting and multiplicity of the gates in many parts of the state, defacing the aesthetics of the environment.
Speaking on the development, Commissioner for MOE&WR, Tokunbo Wahab said the State Government will restore the aesthetics being defaced by the indiscriminate gates by removing them across the state.
He urged all resident associations that have permanently locked gates in their estates or communities to remove them voluntarily.
