Bonu was quoted as saying this as part of plans to commemorate the annual coconut fiesta, themed ‘Agunkefest 2021,’ in Badagry, between November 25 and 27, 2021.

He said, “The Agunkefest fiesta is geared towards preservation, promotion and development of coconut heritage of Lagos State. “This was later followed with the planting and replanting of the coconut plantation across the state especially along the 180 km coastal belt of Lagos State with about 30,000 farming families. Agunkefest will have in attendance, top government functionaries, traditional rulers, popular Nollywood faces, and local and international value chain producers,” he added. The Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has said it will partner with the Lagos State Coconut Development Authority and African Coconut Heritage Initiative, to promote coconut tree planting and exhibition tours at the Agunkefest fiesta.
