Operatives of the Lagos Central Business Districts have been told to brace up for the challenges of turning Lagos Island and Ikeja business districts around for the better, in line with the THEMES Plus agenda of Governor Jide Sanwo-Olu administration
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Central Business Districts, Hon. Mrs. Bola Olumegbon-Lawal, who gave the advice at the inaugural meeting with CBD enforcement operatives on the Island, expressed her determination to leave a lasting and indelible legacy at CBD, stressing that her mission is to make the business districts a place of pride for Lagosians and stakeholders.
Olumegbon-Lawal noted that CBD enforcement personnel must be ready to display a high sense of responsibility, creativity, commitment and avoid laxity in the line of duty.
While noting the challenges of the enforcement personnel, she stated that the welfare and prompt payment of their allowances are paramount, and the state government will provide all necessary tools that will make them perform optimally.
The Special Adviser, however, decried the activities of commercial drivers who park their vehicles indiscriminately on the roads as well as sellers who display their goods on walkways and roads thereby causing traffic bottlenecks in the area.
She enjoined the leadership of the transport unions operating within the Lagos Island business district as well as CDAs and market women associations in the area to call their members to order as it will no longer be business as usual.
Mrs. Olumegbon-Lawal also paid a courtesy visit to the Ebute-Ero Police Divisional Officer (DPO) Mr. Rotimi Agunloye, to seek his assistance in giving security back up to the CBD personnel as well as synergising their operations towards a common goal of ridden the business districts off illegalities.

“I am here to visit your office and intimate you of CBD activities as well as call on you to assist us in the area of maximum security back up against threats from hoodlums and some commercial drivers who most times hinder our efforts to clear traffic bottlenecks within the business district.
Also, we need to work together as one to confront the age-long menace of traffic and environmental issues within the business district” she stated.
The Special Adviser later inspected infrastructures such as public toilets, garages and water fountains provided within the Lagos island business districts with a call on all the operators to brace up and make judicious use of the facilities for the benefit of shoppers, traders and visitors in line with contractual agreements with the State Government.
