‘JusticeforMohbad’: Oyo Speaker, Commissioner For Youth And Sports Stands In Solidarity Joins Protest In Ibadan
The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin, and the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Miss Adegoke Wasilat, joined hundreds of youths in a protest at the State Secretariat in Ibadan. The protest was held to demand justice following the death of popular Nigerian hip hop artiste, Mohbad.
Prior to reaching the State Secretariat, the youths marched through various areas of the city, including Mokola, Sango, Trans Amusement Park, and Bodija. Carrying placards with inscriptions like #JusticeforMohbad and #WhoOffLight, the protesters called on government security agencies to arrest and prosecute those responsible for Mohbad’s untimely death.
During the protest, the Oyo Speaker addressed the crowd, expressing his support for justice in Mohbad’s case. He stated that he was a fan of Mohbad’s inspirational songs and called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
The Speaker emphasized the need for everyone connected to Mohbad’s death to be questioned and investigated. He questioned why the police failed to investigate a petition Mohbad had sent them regarding constant threats to his life. The Speaker also highlighted video clips showing Mohbad being beaten and bullied without any arrests or prosecutions taking place. He criticized the security agencies for their lack of action to protect the young singer.
The Oyo State government also expressed its alignment with efforts to uncover the truth about Mohbad’s death. Both the Speaker and the Commissioner showed solidarity with the protesters and called for justice to be served.
